Welcome To Monument & Palmer Lake

The Tri-Lakes area of northern El Paso County in Colorado boasts two wonderful communities; Monument and Palmer Lake.  Monument, Colorado sits at a breathtaking 7,135 feet in elevation.  This area has all of the charm of small town living with the convenience of being close to Colorado Springs to the south.  Situation next to Pike National Forest to the west, this community has wonderful views of the mountains and the picturesque Air Force Academy grounds.  Many different types of homes are available in this area bordering the Black Forest, from condominiums, to horse properties, to forested estates.  Lewis Palmer School District adds a level of pride and prestige to this community with its quality programs, successful sports teams and high test scores.  The neighboring community of Palmer Lake shares the same school system as well as the small town charm.  The downtown area across from the lake has several great restaurants and is a wonderful place to spend the afternoon.  The homes in Palmer Lake are older and unique with loads of character!  Founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer, this town has plenty of history!

Palmer Lake is bordered to the north by the Greenland Open Space and Preserve and is adjacent to the 15-mile Santa Fe Regional Trail, which runs south through Monument to the southern boundary of the Air Force Academy and follows part of the old Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.  The two reservoirs behind Palmer Lake are accessible by trail used by hikers, bicyclists, snowshoers and fisherman.  The mountains behind the town have a matrix of trails connecting visitors and residents to canyons and ridges, friendly to hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders.
